New Eddystone Rock |
Shoalwater Pass Anchorage |
Left Ketchikan with our friends aboard “Got d’ Fever” and cruised up the east arm of Behm Canal, stopping to view “New Eddystone Rock,” a 230-foot castle-like landmark jetting up in the middle of the canal. We then motored to nearby “Shoalwater Pass Anchorage” located behind Winstanley Island for a night’s stay. Leonard and Bruce took the dinghy and deployed a crab trap and a prawn trap, while Pam and I kayaked around the lovely bay enjoying the peaceful setting. A well maintained Forest Service Cabin along the shore added to the picturesque bay. We all met back at the boat and the guys proudly returned with prawns and over a dozen large crabs, a job well done! The reward for cooking cleaning, and preparing the crab - tasty crab sandwiches for lunch and crab cakes the following day with a tossed green salad topped with spiced prawns. Pam and I agreed that we wouldn’t starve with good hunters and gatherers on board.
